Graduating at Last
By Leia ZionAlmost 270 happy seniors will walk across the PAC stage on Thursday, May 27 while more than 1,000 of their closest family members will watch, applause, cheer, and probably, cry. After a long four years, our seniors are finally graduating.
“I think that this was a really great class and I’m glad to see them graduate,” said Associate Principal Cynthia Rapaido, who organizes the graduation ceremony each year.
For most seniors, it is truly bittersweet to graduate because they are excited to move on, but will miss all of their friends and San Mateo.
“Junior year I thought I was totally ready for college, but now I think I’m not that ready. I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things, but I will miss my family and friends,” said senior Ally Forrest in the midst of one of her last Advanced Dance classes at Mateo.
“ I am ready to leave San Mateo, but it is bittersweet for me because I will miss all my friends and my mom,” added Victoria Brehmer.
Daria Osipchuk said, “It’s going to be hard to leave SMHS but exciting to move on to UCLA. It is also hard to leave my friends.”
And Hannah Halpern, another dancer, said, “ I enjoyed being at San Mateo im going to miss it, but I am ready to move on.”
