On Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8, the Performing Arts Center (PAC) rang with the sound of: music, tap shoes, and clapping. The reason for all this commotion was Mateo Motion, the annual dance show put on by the San Mateo High School dance classes and dance team.
The show was, for lack of a better word, simply stunning. Students, from freshmen to seniors, flitted across the stage with elegance and pizzazz. The show featured “a myriad of dance styles – contemporary, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, ballet and pointe,” to quote the Mateo Motion Facebook page. The choreography married different styles of music  and dances seamlessly together. Emotions in the house ranged from hilarity after a hilarious rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” to melancholy after a haunting dance to Avril Lavigne’s “Slipped Away”. Again, it was a simply stunning performance.
