On Wednesday, May 5, geometry students from SMHS toured the campus of UC Berkeley. They put all the skills they learned throughout the year to complete their scavenger hunt and project. On the scavenger hunt, they were asked to do things such as ask three students what their SAT score was, or what their hometown was. They were also asked to estimate how many people could sit around a certain pool and the circumference of the largest eucalyptus tree using arm length.
Most of the students had a blast searching for all the answers to the scavenger hunt and finding geometric figures around campus. The trip definitely made math seem like so much more fun, and showed students how math can create many new adventures and opportunities.
