Why the Democrats Are Down, But Not Out

You’d have to be living under a rock to have missed it. On November 2, there was something of a shift in the national government. In elections dominated by Tea Partiers and frustrated voters, the Republican Party re-took the House of Representatives and cut into the Democratic majority in the Senate.

I Can. You Can. We Can. It is this school spirit that won San Mateo High School the Guinness World Record for World’s Largest Food Drive seven years ago, and this spirit that keeps pushing us to 300,000 cans every year.

Classy Tattoos—An Art Form

Angelina Flores shows off her tattoos.

Tattoos: whether they are swallows adorning a person’s collarbones, or a tiny curl of cursive wrapped around a wrist, they’re a bit of portable art that accompanies someone everywhere they go. Giants’ catcher Buster Posey was named [...]

The lockers at San Mateo High School, are loved by some, but disliked by others. Rows of lockers stretch across the length of every single hallway at the school. Some students really enjoy decorating their lockers and making it their own. Some put mirrors, little magnetic baskets that hold pencils, posters, and pictures in their [...]

Girls’ Soccer

This year’s girls’ soccer is very competitive. Everyone is doing good and playing their soccer. This year, people were playing soccer very well and really hit the field. Unlike boys’ soccer, there weren’t as many cuts in girls’ soccer. Everyone was very good and there are high hopes for the upcoming season. Freshman Victoria Zamloot [...]

Grid: Shanghai Nights

Last Friday, November 19th, San Mateo High School held its homecoming at the Foster City Crown Plaza. 530 tickets were sold and there was a great turnout. “It was a lot of fun—way better than last year” said sophomore Shaina Prasad. A major complaint from most guests was about the lights, and how they were [...]
